In all its work, WWF encourages ecologically sustainable development.
Through its work, the fund has been able to save endangered species such as the giant panda and the Arabian oryx, and to protect many threatened species and habitats.
WWF is extremely effective in raising public awareness of conservation problems and it has collaborated with governments, organisations and individuals in more than 1,000 conservation projects.
Marinos Yeroulanos

He promoted national and regional environmental planning and introduced these considerations into government decision-making.

A committed world leader in Antarctic conservation and an internationally celebrated photographer who, through the medium of photography, has brought into sharp public visibility life in Antarctica and potential threats to the region.
Bruno Zehnder died in a fierce Antarctica storm in July 1997 at age 52.

As Head of the Liu Min-Ying Ecological Farm in China, Mr. Zhang has popularised biogas and solar energy in his community and initiated ecological farming using agricultural wastes for energy and fertilizer.
Prominent progress has been made on the community's economy and environment. His work is a model for renewable energy development.
Sekkou Zouha

A Moroccan forester and field director of a government desert control project in the Draa Valley. By providing seedlings, maintaining plantations and soil conservation works, Mr. Zouha kept sand dunes in check, greatly benefiting the 100,000 inhabitants of the valley.
