Satu Huttunen

Dr. Huttunen is a noted Finnish researcher on air pollution and the acidification of forests. The results of her research have been used as a basis for making decisions on combating air pollution and they have helped raise public awareness.

She was honoured as Finland's "Woman of the Year" in 1986.

Rauno Ruuhijarvi

Rauno Ruuhijarvi

A botanist who has been responsible for improving environmental education and research in Finland. He initiated conservation of peatlands and played a leading role in the creation of Finland's national parks and other protected areas.

Professor Ruuhijarvi has written several books and numerous articles on conservation. He has worked for a long time as President of the Finnish Association for Nature Protection.

Professor Lindstrom, originally an agricultural scientist, now a full time development worker, has made numerous speeches and written books and hundreds of articles on global solidarity and environmental responsibility in international economic relations. His practical contributions to sustainable development include successful forestry projects in Africa, with voluntary funding from Finland.
