Olfat Dessouky El-Sebaie
Dr. El-Sebaie, professor and chairman of Environmental Health Department, Alexandria University, has conducted research and field work for 22 years in Egypt on water quality, environmental health, solid waste management, hazardous wastes, women and environment and village sanitation.
She is serving the community through her membership in the drinking water authority board, ministerial committee and governmental committees on environmental pollution. In the Monofia Governorate her recommendations led to action to ensure safe drinking water supply for villagers.
She also produces regular television programmes on health and the environment. At present she is working with the ministry of health on a project funded from u.s. aid dealing with the impacts of supplying rural areas with water and sanitation on schistosomiasis transmission.
