Controller of factual programmes for Central Television in the UNITED KINGDOM. He heads a team which works closely with TVE - the Television Trust for the Environment - which is a charity partly sponsored by UNEP. Central television's commitment to the production of environmental programmes is a long and continuing one. Past programmes include awardwinning documentaries which drew public attention to the destruction of the Amazonian forests and stimulated global assistance to the Ethiopian famine victims in 1984/85. Central's most recent environmental production was a two hour special - the last show on earth - which was broadcast to mark the Rio Summit, and which attracted a UK audience of seven and a half million viewers.
