Donald McMichael

Dr. McMichael has for 30 years played a key role in both government and non-government Australian institutions dealing with environment and natural resources.

He was instrumental in the establishment of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and in the development of federal government environment policies and conservation programs during the 1970s and 1980s.

From 1981 to 1984 he was Chairman of the Environment Committee of OECD. During 1991 and 1992 he has been actively involved in the development of a biological diversity conservation strategy for Australia.
